I love libraries. In fact, I still have (and use) my very first library card ever. I was so little when I got it that I couldn't even sign my name, but that didn't stop me from devouring books. At times Mom was forced to limit me to only checking out five books at once, and she would frequently confiscate my current book and force me outside to get some exercise.
Over the years, I have retained my affinity for libraries and books. Some evidences that I may be a little obsessed are:
1. I currently have cards to at least three different libraries, all of which I continue to use (In fact, I could probably check out over 60 books right now if I really wanted to.)
2. I work in a library-- and love it. Actually, I find my work relaxing. (Come on! Yesterday we got to make and put out colorful footprints heading down the hall and today we got to look up weird causes of death on microfilm. It doesn't get much better than that!)
3. When I first moved away from home, I had more boxes of books than clothing.
4. I love walking through the shelves and smelling the books. Mmm!
5. I have at least six libraries bookmarked on my Favorites list.
6. I currently have eleven books checked out at the BYU library, plus one checked out through interlibrary loan and one on hold
7. I can't remember how many times I've read Harry Potter (or the Jane Austen books)
8. In order to get to my extra printer and colored paper, I have to dig through a stack of books first.
9. My personal reading list multiplies at a rate that would make bunny reproduction look slow.
10. In National Treasure 2, when Gates gives the call number for the "president's book," I knew immediately that it was not a real library of congress call number.
11. I own two Harold B. Lee Library t-shirts, a Harold B. Lee Library pen, and a Harold B. Lee Library water bottle.

To read or not to read . . . is NOT the question!

Kim, you're amazing! I knew when you were about 4 and I found you reading a book under the car, next to the wheel, that I had to keep my eye on you...who'll do the job for me now? --Mom
I was just remembering the other day how you used to spend hours in the bathroom back at home--and not for plucking your eyebrows...it was because you always had a book or Readers' Digest stashed under the laundry basket!
This is all true! Maybe on your list you should include that your Jane Austen reading equals all your other reading put together! Almost, anyway. Also, did you really have more books than clothes when you moved out? (And funny about the fake Library of Congress number)
the question is: can your roommates, in the same room, call you for dinner while you're reading, and you actually hear them? that'd be a major step from childhood... :)
