Best Buddy Bec

For as long as I can remember, I have always looked up to my sister, Becca-- and not just because she's five inches taller than me!

Becca is one of those people that everyone loves. She's amazingly smart, plays more instruments than I could count, and rocks every sport known to man. Even more than her multitude of talents, though, Becca is great because she's always there for you.

I've been lucky enough to have bonded with Becca from the very beginning. Our oldest sisters were pretty closely spaced and formed a lively trio, while Becca and I became inseparable buds. In fact, we were such good friends that we always referred to each other as "Best Buddy Bec" and "Best Buddy Kim."

Becca was my friend and comrade . . . and sometimes my accomplice in crime. Whether it be venturing out to visit the "ferocious" doggies next door, secretly following Danielle to school, or playing "flower princesses," we were always together. I even remember getting sick together. We had so much fun staying home from school, watching movies, and giggling to each other, that for years after that we would breathe on each other's toothbrushes and use each other's drinking glasses-- hoping in vain that we'd get to be "sickies" together again.

Becca was always willing to do the dirty work, too. I would always make her be the boy when we played house (ostensibly because she had a lower voice, but really because I didn't want to!), and she always had to have the blue dolls (pink were definitely reserved for me!), but she rarely complained.

Since we've gotten older, Becca has still been my "best buddy." She's always there to listen or cry to when I'm having a bad day. On my birthday she got up early and made me super-delicious apple pancakes (so don't let her tell you she can't cook! It's not true!) And, when I was serving a mission, she was always supportive of me. I remember that when I was having one of my hardest times on my mission, she wrote me and encouraged me, even though she was having one of the hardest times of her life. That's what I love about Becca. Even when she's having a hard time, she always thinks about other people.

Thanks for being my best buddy, Bec! Happy Birthday!

Ha, the missionary picture!!!! I remember you two cute "best buddies" (and being a teens jealous). How funny that you would breathe on each other's toothbrushes! And so true about Becca always thinking of others even in her most difficult moments.

Remember when you guys would do the United States puzzle together, and you made her be upside down so much that when she did it on her own, she would still do it upside down?

That picture is so hilarious. I think you guys also need one in your bubble gum dresses. Or when you were bumping tummies with just your diaps on. Nice write-up on Beeks. It's all true.
