Jordan

It's a good thing pictures aren't food, or you'd all be starved by now, due to my tardiness in posting.
But, I'm pleased to report, I only have two finals left, and I'm celebrating by posting the long-overdue Jordan report. Starve no longer!

Jars of sand. Jordanians are famous for the intricate pictures they create in these bottles. If only they didn't weigh (and cost) a ton!

The spring that supposedly came out of the rock when Moses struck it.

Think they'd let me on the plane home like this?

Our ghetto bathroom in Amman. We could barely even get the door past the toilet. Granted, after the overnight train in Egypt, I shouldn't be complaining about anything . . .

Petra! Doesn't it look like the Narrows at Zion's National Park (minus the water)?

The treasury. Think Indiana Jones. (Also, this is the building in my teaser post below.)

Anyone wonder who really rules the roost?

Bedouin girls, anxiously awaiting a treat from Dad

Another bedouin girl, learning how to do a thumb-war

Whose bright idea was it to give dad a knife?

The blood channel from the altar above. The line running right behind Dad leads to this channel. It's probably at least a foot high.

Jerash-- the biggest Roman city outside of Italy.

Look at that hottie!

Some flowers

If you have to do the dishes, such an awful boring chore
If you have to do the dishes 'stead of going to the store
If you have to do the dishes and you drop one on the floor . . .
Maybe you'll have to take them to the pottery dump and some 20th century girl will find the pieces and think they're cool!

These columns were actually built so that they sway in the wind. Weird, huh. If you put something long and thin, like a spoon in the cracks, the spoon will move up and down, letting you see how much it really is moving.
Check out this video and you'll see what I mean (sorry there's no sound-- my camera's video feature is pretty limited):

Now that's a post! Wow, good job on those pics, Kim. I stole a few for the Wilsonwatch, if you don't mind. I can't wait to see what you frame up from England!

I kind of like the sacrificial Kim one. Kim, I wouldn't let Dad get too comfy with the knife. What if he thought he were Abraham and you were Isaac and no angel came???

Doin' a little Abrahamic reenactment on the sacrificial altar, eh?

Who thought to have a spoon?
